The Apple TV was introduced over a year ago by Apple. It was however, an expensive device that was not very useful since it lacked some really important features like movie rentals. Fast-forward to 2008 and things begin to look up for the device with a recent price drop and update from Apple.

The update allows the user to rent and buy both High Definition and Standard Definition movies via the iTunes music store. You can do more than watch movies on this device however, you can also subscribe to podcasts, buy episodes of your favorite televisions shows, stream media from your PC or MAC (videos, music, photos) and watch YouTube videos on your television. Connectivity is also good if you have a modern television as the Apple TV supports HDMI, Component and DVI connections.

If you do not have a widescreen television however, don't even think about owning the Apple TV as it is not compatible. Moreover, if you do not have an internet connection (wired or wireless) and a broadband connection you are out of luck.

The Apple TV comes in two flavors a 40GB and a 160GB version and support all the same features, so your choice is solely based on disk space.
